NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old private airlines pilot chased and caught a chain-snatcher in Anand Vihar here on Monday. Hemant Sethi, a Jet Airways pilot, was talking to an acquaintance by the roadside near Surajmal Vihar in the afternoon when two young men on a motorcycle allegedly snatched his gold chain and tried to escape. Borrowed bike Mr. Sethi borrowed the bike of his acquaintance and chased them. After chasing them for about 500 metres, Mr. Sethi hit the snatcher's bike from behind and he along with the two snatchers fell on the road. Accused hospitalised “Soon several people gathered at the spot thinking that an accident had taken place. The duo then got up and tried to escape on foot, but Mr. Sethi managed to catch one of them with the help of the public. The accused was identified as Amit and the gold chain was recovered. He was thrashed by the public and had to be taken to a hospital,” said a senior police officer. Mr. Sethi is a resident of Surya Vihar in Ghaziabad.
