Five women among seven held for abducting minor children

Gang had abducted about a dozen minors for sale: Police


Two of the children were abducted in Mehrauli, two from Sangam Vihar and two from Neb Sarai

The police suspect that the accused charged Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1 lakh per child


NEW DELHI: Seven persons, including five women, have been arrested in South Delhi here on charges of abducting about a dozen minor children for sale. The police have so far located five children and hope to rescue three more soon.

While two of the children were abducted in Mehrauli, as many were picked up in Sangam Vihar and two more in Neb Sarai. The police have arrested an elderly woman, later identified as Bina, and her accomplices, Mona, Nanhi, Khusboo, Saira, Afroz and Zubed.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that Bina allegedly played a key role in deciding the places from where children had to be abducted. She also allegedly struck deals for sale of the abducted minors. The gang targeted children of poor families.

It is learnt that among those rescued so far is Ashraf, son of Aftab Alam, who was abducted along with his elder brother Javed in August. The police are trying to trace his sibling and other victims of the gang that had been operating for the past over two years. A rescue team has also been dispatched to Haridwar.

The police suspect that the accused charged Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1 lakh per child.
