PANAJI: All licensed premises for the sale of liquor located within the jurisdiction of 11 municipal councils of nine taluks will remain closed on October 30, 31 and November 1 in view of the general elections to the municipal councils and the counting of votes thereafter. These include Pernem in Pernem taluk, Mapusa in Bardez taluk, Bicholim in Bicholim taluk, Valpoi in Sattari taluk (all in north Goa) and Margao and Cuncolim in Salcete taluk, Quepem and Curchorem-Cacora in Quepem taluk, Sanguem in Sanguem taluk, Mormugao in Mormugao taluk and Canacona in Canacona taluk of south Goa. The Government has also issued directives on the maximum quantity of liquor that can be transported or possessed as per the State excise provisions during these three days. The quantity includes three quart bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor other than beer and six bottles of beer for any person, including his family; three quart bottles of country liquor for any person including his family, said a notification issued by the State excise here on Tuesday.
