Plan to set up permanent photo exhibition on wildlife Call to protect ecology for the future generations Coimbatore: It is the duty of everyone to protect ecology and conserve nature to ensure a decent and trouble-free living for the future generations, said S. Baskaran, Principal District Sessions Judge, Coimbatore on Monday. He was speaking at the valedictory function of the wildlife photography exhibition at VOC Park Corporation Zoological Park organised by Osai, an NGO involved in nature conservation to mark the Wildlife Week Celebrations. In the event of the failure of the present generation to protect nature and wildlife, the future generations will have to learn about wildlife only through photographs. Today, we are forced to carry water in bottles when we go out and at this rate of exploitation of nature as pointed out by nature conservationists, the human race would reach the situation of carrying oxygen to breathe, he reminded. In the last three decades, the human race due to greed had rampantly resorted to deforestation and obstruction of corridors and encroachment of forest lands. After having disturbed the wildlife and its habitat, today people complain about man-animal conflict. The entry of wild animals into human habitats was caused only by mindless measures of the human race. If the future generations should live peacefully and without any trouble, water and oxygen will have to be ensured for which protection of ecology and nature is paramount and the onus and responsibility of the same rests with every one in this present generation. Awareness Corporation Commissioner Anshul Mishra assured to explore the possibilities for having a permanent photo exhibition on wildlife for the benefit of school children so as to create the required awareness among the future generations. Felicitated Students and activists involved in protection of nature and wildlife were felicitated besides those who had contributed their photographs for the exhibition. District Forest Officer I. Anwardeen, Corporation Zoo Director S. Perumalsamy and OSAI President Kalidasan took part.
