CHENNAI: SEIKO, a leading global luxury watch brand, opened its first SEIKO exclusive boutique in Chennai. Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Tetsuji Ishimaru, President, said the 100 per cent Indian subsidiary, SEIKO Watch India Pvt. Ltd., had shown impressive growth in the premium watches category. It grew 43 per cent in 2009-10. During April-September, 2010, it had grown by 84 per cent in value. He was confident that the launch of the boutique would contribute greatly to the further growth of the company. Niladri Mazumder, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing (India), said the company was planning to open 10 more boutiques in the next two or three yeas. The Chennai boutique was opened in association with Zimson Times Pvt. Ltd. The watches are priced between Rs. 5,000 and Rs.1,60 lakh. A. Khaleel, Vice-Chairman, Zimson, said the company had 12 showrooms (both exclusive and multi-brand) in Chennai alone, 19 in Tamil Nadu and one in Bangalore. With more exclusive brand outlets, the company was expecting to register Rs. 80 crore turnover in 2010-11.
