Kasipandian' role in Dravidian literature recalled

TIRUPATI: S.Chellappa, Principal Secretary, State Department of Tourism and Culture, has hailed the yeoman services rendered by P.S. Kasipandian to the literature and cult of Dravidianism. He recalled his role in establishing Dravidian University with the joint participation of the four southern States.

At a seminar on ‘Sri P.S. Kasipandian's contribution to Dravidianism' organised by Dravidian University at Kuppam on Tuesday, Dr. Chellappa said Mr. Pandian had developed the theoretical contribution for ‘spiritual socialism', an innovative concept that was ever-relevant. “Dravida is etymologically a Telugu word”, he said and mentioned a few of Kasipandian's writings on the concept of ‘Siddha'.

R. Gopalakrishnan, a professor of philosophy at University of Madras presented the influence of Buddhist thought on Kasipandian and presented ‘Saiva Siddhanta' as practical and pragmatic. Vice-Chancellor Cuddapah Ramanaiah and Registrar C. Varadarajulu Naidu hailed Kasipandian as a profound philosopher and promised to tread his footsteps in developing Dravidian studies.

Event organiser Prof. Penchalaiah spoke while associate professor Dr. Narayana proposed a vote of thanks.
