Dindigul
Info on wheels:Municipal Chairman R. Natarajan looking at exhibits on the caravan in Dindigul on Tuesday. DINDIGUL: Swatantra, Unit Trust of India's Knowledge Caravan that has reached the town on Tuesday, has intensified campaign on mutual funds and spread financial literacy among people. The caravan was flagged off by the Dindigul Municipal Chairman R. Natarajan. Talking to press persons after presiding over the campaign, the UTI (Tiruchi Division) Chief Manager R. Srinivasan said the main objective was to create an awareness among people of financial planning and benefits of investing in mutual funds. The country's largest investor campaign has been covering 300 cities and towns and organising 100 investors' meet in select places. Financial education was very crucial for the growth of the country's capital market. Higher retail participation in capital market would accelerate the progress of the country. The investors' campaign inculcated financial literacy to potential investors that would help them take informed decisions. Such an initiative would also help in increasing investor awareness, wealth creation and ultimately creating financial advisors across the country, he added. The three caravans that were travelling across the length and breadth of the country would reach Kanyakumari on October 26, after covering a distance of 13,500 kilometres in about 100 days, he added. In Tamil Nadu, the caravan had covered Hosur, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Erode, Karur and Namakkal. It would reach Madurai on Wednesday and touch Virudhunagar and Tirunelveli before reaching Kanyakumari. In Dindigul district, it campaigned in Dindigul and Thadikumbu. While one caravan started from Jammu, another one at Guwahati and the third one from Mumbai.
