Bangalore: Demanding regular payment of salaries and job postings, hundreds of health assistants staged a daylong demonstration in front of the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services office in Bangalore on Tuesday. The protesters, affiliated to the Karnataka State Senior and Junior Health Assistants' Central Association, led by their president B.H. Gangaiah, later submitted a memorandum to Health Commissioner D.N. Nayak and Director Sumedha Desai.

“They have promised to look into our demands and we hope they will be met,” Mr. Gangaiah said.
