Identity symbol:The Museum Theatre will be one of the elements in the proposed logo of the Government Museum, Egmore. CHENNAI: The Government Museum, Egmore, will soon have a logo as part of measures to create a brand identity. A logo with a pictorial representation of the museum theatre and a dancing Nataraja has been designed and is likely to be finalised by the government shortly, an official of the Department of Museums said. An exclusive museum shop would also be opened on the premises of the Government Museum soon, he said. It would sell artefacts of the State and the products sold there would carry the logo. The visitors to the museum from various parts of the country and abroad would be able to take home the works of art as memento, the official added. Logo on products After obtaining approval from the government for the use of the logo, it would also be printed on T-shirts, caps, mugs and similar products on sale at the museum shop. Self-help groups would be identified for making the products at the museum shop. They would also run the shop, he said. The number of adult visitors from various parts of the country in September was 13,532. The number of student visitors was 4,179 and children 1,955. As many as 771 foreigners, including students and children, visited the museum during the same period. The initiatives such as promotion of the museum logo and the establishment of a museum shop are expected to boost the number of visitors.
