SIVAGANGA: E.M. Sudarsana Natchiappan, Member of Parliament, has called upon the youth,particularly students, to concentrate on developing communication skill for better career opportunities. Delivering the annual convocation address at Dr. Zakir Husain College, Ilayangudi near here recently, he said excellence in studies alone was not enough to climb the ladder of the growth. “If anyone wanted to have bright career in all aspects, they should concentrate on improving communication, soft and interpersonal skills.” Mr. Natchiappan, who distributed certificates of degrees and awards to the students, said tolerance and hard work were the need of the hour for the youth to take the country to the new height of development. They should also contribute towards the development of the society in all aspects individually and collectively. Awards were presented to 32 university rank holders of 2007 – 08 and 2008 – 09 academic years. V.N. Hameetha Banu won the Alagappa University first rank in M. Sc Micro Biology during 2007 -08, and G.R. Vijaya Raman, V. Nantha Kumar, S. Safiya Rose, M.N. Vijayalakshmi, and M. Maheswari, won the Alagappa University first Rank in M.Sc Micro Biology, B.Sc Chemistry, B.A. English, M.Sc. (CS&IT) and M.Com respectively. Eight second ranks were bagged by the students in B.B.E., B.Sc. Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, B.A. English, B.Com (CA), M.A. English Literature and M.Sc. Micro Biology during 2007 – 08 and 3 second ranks were also bagged by the students in M.Sc., Micro Biology, M.A. English, and M.Sc. (CS&IT) during 2008 – 09. A.A. Mohamed Subair, president of the college society, S.A.M. Abdul Ahad, treasurer, V.M. Jafarullah Khan, secretary, H. Nousadh Ali, principal, K. Naina Mohamed, and A. Jahangir spoke.
