Link roads to be laid under NREGP

RAMPACHODAVARAM: K.K. Viswanath, MLA, has announced that under the NREGP scheme, Rs.124.38 crores was sanctioned for the East Godavari Agency (Rampachodavaram constituency) to take up 379 link road works.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the MLA said that the Tribal Welfare Engineering Department would take up these works and they would be transparent with continuous monitoring by different sections. Priority would be given to quality in works, he said and added that he would make efforts to convert these roads into BT roads in future.

He also announced that that under the NREGP, his constituency got Rs. 8.76 crores to take up 122 check-dams during this financial year. In Rampachodavaram mandal, 35 check-dams would be constructed with Rs. 2.32 crores.

Similarly, 45 check-dams in Maredumilli mandal with Rs.2.92 crores and 42 in Y. Ramavaram mandal with Rs.3.50 crores would be taken up under the NREGP.

Under Tribal Sub-Plan, Rs.1.95 crore was sanctioned for construction of water tanks and check-dams in the constituency.

MLA grant

Answering a question, Mr. Viswanath said that officials were spending Rs. 25 lakhs of MLA grant on various works including borewells in the constituency and remaining balance was expected in one or two months to take up road works.
