Discovery has 53 million subscribers across 604 districts, 1,500 towns and 2 lakh villages The channel launched its 24-hour parallel Hindi feed in 1998 and Tamil feed in January this year HYDERABAD: The rich informative and entertaining content of Discovery Channel could now be savoured in Telugu with the channel launching the Telugu language feed. At present, the feed is available daily from 6 p.m. till midnight and plans were afoot to transform it into a 24-hour parallel feed soon. Announcing the launch here, Rajiv Bakshi, Vice-President – Marketing, India, Discovery Networks Asia Pacific said introduction of regional feeds was aimed at increasing the channel's affinity with its audience. “The launch of the Telugu feed and before this, it's Tamil and Hindi feeds, are a part of Discovery's localisation strategy which is backed by comprehensive research and supported by an efficient dubbing setup and a strong distribution network,” he said. Most of the popular shows including ‘Speed of Life' that encapsulate those tense moments between an attacker and its prey among species, ‘Extreme Peril' and ‘Worst Case Scenario' would be part of the Telugu feed. The channel presents high quality programmes in a variety of genres including nature, wildlife, science, engineering, technology, history, exploration and survival and has over 53 million subscribers distributed across 604 districts, 1,500 towns and 2 lakh villages. Discovery, which launched 24-hour parallel Hindi feed in 1998 came up with a Tamil feed in January this year. New launches There already have been three new launches this year, the auto-based Discovery Turbo that covers everything from moped to rocket, Discovery Science and Discovery HD adding to Animal Planet, TLC and Discovery.
