KOZHIKODE: Revathi Pattathanam, an annual cultural event that brings back memories of the meeting of scholars held during the reign of the Zamorins, will be celebrated here on Friday. The function, to be held at Tali Mahadeva Temple, is held on “Revathi” star of Malayalam month. P.K. Krishnaunni Raja, secretary of the Revathi Pattathana Samithi which has been organising the cultural programme, said there would special prayers at Tali Mahadeva Temple in connection with the event. The ceremonies will commence after a lamp specially lit for the occasion at the temple is taken to the nearby Tali Gayatri Hall where the Revathy Pattathanam celebrations will be held. P.K.S. Raja, head of the Zamorin family,will preside. The programmes will be inaugurated by chairman of Guruvayur Devaswom Board Thottathil Ravindran. Malayath Appunni, winner of Krishna Geethi Award for Poetry, and C. Parameswaran Nair, who has been conferred the award for his contributions as a temple artist, will be felicitated. The inaugural function will be followed by ‘vakyartha sadas,' ‘sama veda samhitha' and ‘akshara sloka contest' featuring scholars. The organisers have cut short the celebrations this year since the elections to local bodies in the district will be held the next day.
