NEW DELHI: Deep Joshi of Maharashtra and Nisha of Bihar won the cadet boys and cadet girls' titles respectively in the 38th National sub-junior carrom championship in Akola, Maharashtra, on Thursday. The results: Team championship (semifinals): Boys: Chandigarh beat Tamil Nadu 2-1 (Talib bt K. Thanigaivel 19-18, 21-0; Arish bt T. Anbarasu 18-7, 14-1; Ankush and Tasavar Ali lost to R. Rajesh Kumar and R. Sethu 0-21, 4-7). Assam beat Maharashtra 2-1 (Sonu Choudhari bt Vijay Nandurdikar 15-4, 20-0; Tapan Baidya lost to Yash Birwadkar 0-21, 20-4, 1-18; Achyut Saikia and Parvez Ahmed bt Neel Joshi and Abhishek Bharti 18-1, 7-21, 21-6). Girls: Bihar beat Chandigarh 2-1 (Kajal Kumari bt Nidhi 21-0, 21-5; Bibha Kumari lost to Tuba 7-17, 4-20; Archana Kumari and Neha Kumari bt Priya Sharma and Manu Gupta 21-0, 14-11); Bengal beat Tamil Nadu 2-1 (Payal Singh bt K. Nagajothi 10-6, 18-9; Bani Das lost to Aishwarya 12-3, 0-13, 8-11; Priyanka Karmakar and Soma Banik bt K. Kugha Kumari and K. Aishwarya 13-8, 17-1). Cadet boys (final): Deep Joshi (Mah) bt K. Sai Dinesh Kumar (AP) 18-6, 8-6. Cadet girls (final): Nisha (Bih) bt Pooja (Bih) 13-3, 21-11 .
