PUDUCHERRY: The Indian Overseas Bank on Thursday conducted a training programme for business correspondents on the ‘Smart Card Facility' being implemented under the financial inclusion scheme as per the directions of the Reserve Bank of India. The bank had selected 49 villages from Cuddalore, Villupuram and Tiruvannamalai and nominated a business correspondent for each village. Various aspects of the facility were explained to the participants apart from training them in usage of the smart card machines. The facility is being extended to “unbanked” villages across the country. An account holder can remit or withdraw up to Rs. 2,000 and get statement of account for the last five transactions by approaching the business correspondent in his/her respective village.
