Pala festival from October 29

BHUBANESWAR: In its bid to rejuvenate Orissa's age-old and immensely popular performing arts tradition of pala, Jagatsinghpur-based prominent cultural organisation Prafulla Pathagara has announced to host its fourth State-level annual competitive pala festival commencing on October 29. A brain-child of New Delhi-based senior bureaucrat Prasanna Das, the festival shall be hosted at four zones to facilitate participation of troupes from all the 30 districts of Orissa, informed festival coordinator Prasant Das. While the eastern zonal festival shall be held at the district headquarter town of Jagatsinghpur on October 29 and 30, the Central zonal event is slated to be held at Kokila in Angul district on November 9 and 10. Similarly, the northern zonal and western zonal festival shall be hosted at Ganijanga in Bhadrak district on November 21 and 22 and at Gargadbahal in Sundargarh district on November 28 and 29 respectively, Das said.
