Party workers led by Delhi State president take out rally in the Capital

“TIME FOR ACTION”: BJP workers led by the party's Delhi unit presidentVijender Gupta protesting in the Capital on Friday against “corruption” in the Commonwealth Games-2010. -

NEW DELHI: A large number of Delhi BJP workers descended on Jantar Mantar here on Friday to protest against alleged corruption in the preparations for the Commonwealth Games and to demand that those involved be brought to book. Leading the protesters, State party president Vijender Gupta demanded that Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit be removed from her post and a probe initiated against her.

Mr. Gupta wondered how when the Prime Minister himself had visited the stadiums and found the construction to be of high quality, it is now coming out that the quality was very sub-standard. The BJP leader said he failed to understand “why Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy is protecting the Dubai-based company which constructed the Games Village”. Demanding that all the files related to the Games projects be seized, Mr. Gupta said it was disturbing to learn that important files had disappeared from the office of the Games Organising Committee. “All the documents connected with the Games should be sealed and a joint team of the CAG, CVC, ED, CBI, FEMA, IT, Excise Department, and Export-Import Department should be set up. Besides, the inquiry should be done under the supervision of a Joint Parliamentary Committee,'' he added.

Party general secretary Vijay Goel claimed that he was the first to raise the issue of corruption in Games.
