Follow rules in bidding: filmmakers

Special Correspondent

PANAJI: The Federation of Film Fraternity of Goa has demanded that the State-owned Entertainment Society of Goa, which co-hosts the International Film Festival of India-2010, ensure that rules and regulations are followed while inviting bids for accommodation for the delegates.

The Federation, a body of local filmmakers, has been campaigning against alleged irregularities in the preparations for the festival that begins in Goa on November 22.

In a letter to the State government last week, federation president Arnaldo D'Costa questioned the motive behind the clause in the tender papers that sought to book only five-star ‘beach resort' as the accommodation for officials, invitees and delegates.

He wondered whether it was aimed at favouring a particular resort.

The Federation also demanded that the bids should not be opened till the controversial clause is deleted. Filmmaker Augi D'Mello has also written to Chief Secretary S.K. Srivatsava, demanding that members of the organising committee be banned from the bidding process.
