KARUR: Nursing management plays a vital role in providing proper care and attention to the medical activities. Dedication and a spirit of sacrifice are qualities that need to be fostered among the members of the nursing fraternity, according to speakers at a Continuing Nursing Programme that commenced here on Monday. Speaking at the inaugural of the 10-day CNE programme at the Sri Aurobindo College of Nursing at Punnam Chatram near here, the chairman of the Sri Aurobindo Educational Trust and former MLA A.R. Malayappasamy said the objective of the training was the participants should be able to provide quality nursing services by improving their communication skills . Practical exercises would get priority over theories. After the training, the participants would be able to identify need for development standards in nursing practice, develop budgets for nursing services, and identify the importance of problem solving, he said.Areas of interaction include hospital management, contribution of nurses in health care delivery system, challenges in personnel management, nursing administration, records and reports, stress management, communication, infection control, nursing audit, and counselling skills, according to Principal Angelina. Sri Aurobindo Educational Trust treasurer P.Thangaraj; Coordinator Muthukumar; Annai Women's College Principal Natarajan, and others participated in the inaugural function. The CNE is sponsored by the Union Ministry of Health and Family and the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council was coordinating the proceedings.
