Kamboj wins The Hindu and Mahindra &Mahindra contest

RANCHI: Ved Prakash Kamboj, senior telecom engineer in the Indian Oil, won a Mahindra Xylo on Monday as the grand prize of The Hindu and Mahindra &Mahindra contest held during the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

The car keys were handed over to him by Satish K. Mendon, assistant regional general manager, The Hindu. Partha Sarathi Ghosh , assistant regional general manager, Kolkata, The Hindu. Ravi Shankar Chaudhray, area sales, Mahindra& Mahindra were present. The event took place in Mahindra &Mahindra show room in Ranchi.

The contest, which began on June 11, provided football fans an opportunity to predict the “The five” goal scorers for the tournament, complete a slogan and win prizes ranging from exotic vacation and laptops. The grand prize was a Mahindra Xylo

To participate, contestants had to log on to www.thehindu.com/goldenstriker, an exclusive event microsite. They were allowed to send in entries between June 11 and 25, 2010. In just two weeks, the contest received an overwhelming response with over 11,000 entries from all over India. The winners were chosen on the basis of the entries that obtained the highest aggregated points at the end of the tournament.

The winner, Mr. Ved Prakash Kamboj, an IIT & IIM graduate settled in Howrah took home the Grand Prize, a brand new Mahindra Xylo. Contest winners received 200 prizes worth Rs. 32 lakh in total.

Apart from the Mahindra Xylo other prizes that The Hindu gave out were an overseas Vacations from Vacations Exotica, ME Laptops from HCL, Digital Cameras from Olympus Imaging Corp., Oxydo Sunglasses from Safilo, Puma Watches from Egana India, Leg Massagers from iAds & Events, Holiday Packages from Villa Sol Areia (boutique hotel, Goa) and Digital Safes from Uma Safety Lockers.
