Hiriyur to host sahitya sammelan

Chitradurga: After a gap of nearly six years, the Kannada Sahitya Parishat will hold the district Kannada Sahitya Sammelan in Hiriyur taluk of Chitradurga.
Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, K.M. Veeresh, district president of the parishat, said that the two-day programme will begin from November 3 at Nehru Maidan in Hiriyur town.
He said that preparations for the event were almost complete. Writer Yalanadu Anjanappa has been selected president of the sammelan.
The event will begin with hoisting of the national flag by the former Minister D. Sudhakar.
The two-day event will have symposiums on various social issues, cultural and music programmes and an exhibition of Kannada books.
Mr. Veeresh said that the last district-level sammelan was held in Holalkere taluk in 2004.
