Coimbatore: Defending champion RKS Kalvi Nilayam HSS coasted to a comfortable 53-run win over Suburban HSS and entered the semifinals of the CDCA under-14 inter-school cricket tournament for the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis Trophy at the PSG Tech grounds here on Wednesday.
At the PSG Medical College grounds, Satchidananda Jothi Niketan pulled off a surprising two-wicket win over last year's runner-up Sri Jayendra Saraswathy MHSS.
The scores (quarterfinals): Sri Jayendra Saraswathy MHSS 89 for five in 25 overs (Kishore 30) lost to Satchidananda Jothi Niketan 90 for eight in 23.1 overs (Gunaseelan 41, Hari three for 10).
Keartiman MHSS 115 for seven in 20 overs (Sabari 30, Dinil 31, Arvind four for 22) bt Sri Ramakrishna MHSS 90 for eight in 20 overs (A. Shankar 30).
Mani HSS 128 for seven in 25 overs (Dinesh Mani 30, Vineeth four for 24) bt PSG Public School 45 in 20.5 overs (Abul three for 11).
RKS Kalvi Nilayam HSS 142 for three in 20 overs (Karthik 45, Suresh 31) bt Suburban HSS 89 in 19.1 overs (Surya three for 15).
The 37th State shooting championship in shotgun events will be held at the Dr. B. Sivanthi Adityan trap and skeet shooting range at Alamadi in Chennai from November 12 to 14.
A shooter who achieves the maximum qualifying score fixed by the National Rifle Association of India in this championship will be eligible to participate in the G.V. Mavlankar shooting championship (pre-nationals) in shotgun events scheduled at Bhopal in December.
