HARIDWAR: Two meet records were set on the final day of the National inter-district athletics championship while Pune topped the medals tally here on Friday. Ganesh of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan threw the javelin to 60.35 metres to erase the meet record of 57.86 set by Parveen Bhoi in 2008 in the boys' under-16 category. The day's other record came in the boys' under-16 high jump event where Rahul of Sonipat, Haryana, cleared 1.90 metres. He broke the previous record of 1.89 metres that stood in the name of Navjot Singh, also of Haryana, since 2005. The other winners of the day were, Hyderabad's B. Kantha Rao (boys' under-16, 100m hurdles), Mumbai's Kruttika Nalawde (girls' under-16, 100m hurdles), UP's Divyani Rawat (girls' under-16, 1500m), Delhi's Saoib (boys' under-14, high jump), P. Siva (boys' under-14 200m) and Bengal's Jyotshna Majhi (girls' under-14, 200m). Pune won three golds, a silver and a bronze to top the medals tally, ahead of West Bengal which collected three golds and a silver. Andhra came third with three gold medals. — Special Correspondent
