IOCL is champion

HYDERABAD: Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. recorded a four-wicket win over ONGC in the final of the all-India PSPB inter-unit Twenty20 cricket tournament at Lal Bahadur Stadium here on Friday.

Batting first, ONGC scored 138 for seven with India player Praveen Kumar (54, 34b, 6x4, 2x6) being the top-scorer.

In reply, IOCL reached the target with three balls to spare. Harpreet Singh (37, 30b, 4x4, 1x6) and Rohit Sharma (34, 35b, 2x4, 1x6) batted well for IOCL.

The scores: ONGC 138 for seven in 20 overs (Praveen Kumar 54, Rohan Raje three for 22) lost to IOCL 139 for six in 19.3 overs (Harpreet Singh 37, Rohit Sharma 34) .

FITA mourns

International Archery Federation (FITA) Secretary General Tom Dielen in an e-mail to Archery Association of India Secretary General Vijaya Kumar Malhortra on Friday condoled the death of Indian archery coach Ch. Lenin, who died in a road accident on Sunday.

“We received the news of the tragic accident of one of your successful coaches. Please accept on behalf of FITA our sincere condolences and convey our condolences to the family of the coach as well as to the archery community in India. The news came to us as a big shock and we remember the extreme pleasure his team enjoyed when it won the silver medal in the compound segment,” said Dielen from Lausanne, Switzerland.
