District in-charge Minister S.A. Ramdas and A.H. Vishwanath, MP, making floral offerings to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari to mark Karnataka Rajyotsava, in Mysore on Monday. MYSORE: District in-charge Minister S.A. Ramdas declared that the Government would make every effort to make Mysore ‘fully literate'. He was unfurling the tri-colour and the Kannada flag on the occasion of the 55th Karnataka Rajyotsava in Town Hall, here on Monday. He said that it was determined to make the district fully literate by November 2011, by drafting services of retired teachers. Campaign The Minister said that Total Literacy Campaign would be launched in the district and a survey be conducted in every village to have a clear picture on the state of literacy. He appealed to the district administration to stop the tradition of garlanding guests during the Government functions and instead suggested authorities to present books to inculcate reading culture among people. Mr. Ramdas said that he was happy to get an opportunity to worship Goddess Bhuvaneshwari. A colourful procession of Bhuvaneshwari was taken out on the occasion. Schoolchildren and government employees participated in the procession. A tableau with Bhuvaneshwari's idol on a lotus, structured by the BEML Kannada Sangha, was a major attraction in the procession. Cultural programmes enthralled the audience assembled on the occasion.
