Abhaya Gold launches foundation

Special Correspondent

‘Aim is to reach out to underprivileged, orphans'

VIJAYAWADA: Sri Abhaya Gold Infra Tech Limited, a public limited company, on Tuesday launched Sri Abhaya Foundation for the benefit of the underprivileged and orphans.

“We want to reach out to people who are in need of help through this foundation and our focus will be on extending educational facility to orphans,” Kukatla Srinivas, chairman and managing director of the company, told a press conference here. The launch of the foundation coincided with the birthday of the CMD of the company.

To begin with, the foundation plans to take up construction of an orphanage and a home for the aged in a stretch of 20 acres of land at Singarayakonda in Prakasam district.

Works at the project, Mr. Srinivas said, would begin in the first week of February next year.

The objective of the orphanage was to groom 500-odd orphan children by imparting them education and extending them other facilities, he said.

The company does not intend to accept funds from outside and has plans to generate its own funds.

Asked about the source of his inspiration, Mr. Srinivas recalled that he could not pursue the academic course of his choice because of financial constraint. He did not want others of his ilk to face similar situation.

Medical camps

By 2012, the company, through the foundation, plans to conduct medical camps for its staff, which includes an agent network of 25,000 people besides 400-odd administrative staff working in the 81 branches across the State.
