Lokayukta probe into boy's drowning

BANGALORE: Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde has ordered an inquiry into the drowning of six-year-old Subbu in a pit dug to install a lift in a multi-storeyed apartment in Jayanagar 9 {+t} {+h} block.

Taking suo motu notice of media reports, Mr. Hegde said the Labour Department and the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike have not taken precautionary measures.

Mr. Hegde is using the services of Vigilance Director (Urban Development) K.L. Anandegowda for the inquiry. Mr. Anandegowda and Chief Engineer (Lokayukta) Anil Kumar visited the site on Wednesday and issued notices to the Labour department and BBMP officers.
