HYDERABAD: The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) is holding a crucial meeting in New Delhi on November 9 to verify complaints from pro- and anti-Jagan groups into the appointments of State, District and City Youth Congress presidents. IYC president Rajeev Satav, general secretary Jothimani, secretary Rizwan and APYC chief T. J. R. Sudhakar Babu will scrutinise the list of 37 District and City YC chiefs, which has been kept on hold amid criticism. Controversy erupted after Mr. Jagan's detractors criticised the selection of YC leaders who participated in Kadapa MP Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy's ‘Odarpu yatra'. In contrast, the Jagan camp cried foul against what it called victimisation of participants in the yatra. Sources said Union Ministers – Daggubati Purandeswari, Panabaka Lakshmi and M. M. Pallam Raju are unhappy with selection of Jagan loyalists in their respective districts as YC chiefs after a talent hunt. Visakhapatnam City YC president, an aide of Anakapalli MP Sabbam Hari, drew the ire of Ms. Purandeswari while Kakinada City YC chief is facing heat from Mr. Pallam Raju. Ms. Panabaka Lakshmi is opposing appointment of Prakasam and Nellore YC presidents said to be supporters of Jagan's uncle, Y. V. Subba Reddy and former Chief Minister N. Janardhan Reddy respectively. Amalapuram MP G. V. Harsha Kumar is against MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar's follower as the Rajahmundry City YC president. Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav is sore that his son Anil Kumar Yadav lost the race to the Greater Hyderabad YC post, which went to Health Minister Danam Nagender's aide. A senior Congress leader said: “The selection process was clean as candidates were selected by merit without looking into their political allegiance. There were no directions to sideline those who took part in the yatra.” It is understood that IYC may drop those found over 35 years of age or are facing criminal complaints.
