AIR to conduct group singing competition

TIRUCHI: The All India Radio will conduct it annual group singing competition for the ‘Akashwani award' for young boys and girls soon.

The competitions will be held in two different categories – for children between five and 12 years and for those between 12 and 17 years.

The competition will be held in three levels – Tiruchi station of the AIR level, state level and national level.

Each participating group could consist of 20 participants and should have only one accompanying artiste.

The groups themselves should take care of the accompanying artistes, for whom there is no age limit.

Each group should sing two songs – one in Tamil and the other song in Hindi or Urdu language.

Each song should not exceed the time limit of seven minutes.

The participants should not opt for cinema songs.

The residents of Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai, Perambalur, Karur, Namakkal and Salem districts are covered by the Tiruchi station of the AIR are eligible to take part in the competitions, according to a press release of the Tiruchi station of the AIR.

The residents of other districts, who want to take part in similar competitions, should apply to the AIR stations situated in their nearby districts.

Interested youngsters could collect the application forms at the Tiruchi station of the AIR and the last date for submitting the filled in applications is November 16.

The filled in applications should be submitted to the Station Director, Group Singing Competition, All India Radio, Tiruchi-620 001.
