Staff Reporter
ANNUAL RITUAL:The bull parade organised at Kharitabad as part of the ‘Sadar festival' on Saturday.
HYDERABAD: As part of Deepavali festivities, the colourful ‘Sadar festival' was celebrated in different parts of the city here on Saturday.
The annual festivities described as ‘buffalo carnival of Hyderabad', had the Yadav community taking out buffaloes decked with colourful flower garlands and some with painted horns and colourful designs splashed over them.
To the accompaniment of the bands, mostly ‘teen maar' bands with their throbbing beats, the small processions meandered through the streets and stopped occasionally to allow some cheerful dancing by the animal owners and their friends and relatives.
The tradition for the festival has the community members taking out their best buffalo for a parade accompanied by music and dance. The events were held across the city including at Madhapur, Kachiguda and parts of the old city.
Health Minister Danam Nagender and Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav also participated in the ‘Sadar' festivities.
