HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Rosaiah reviewed the preparedness for the impending danger with officials of the IMD and State government at the Secretariat on Saturday after which a fresh high alert was issued to the Collectors of Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur, Krishna and Chittoor. Patrol The government asked the revenue authorities to use force if people refused to move to safer places. Also, police would patrol the evacuated villages to prevent burglars from taking advantage of the situation. Revenue Minister D. Prasada Rao, who briefed the media twice during the day, said the government had sought helicopters and boats from the Navy to undertake rescue operations. Already, men of the Disaster Management Response Force had taken positions in Nellore after they were moved at Arakkonam. The Minister appealed to the people in the five districts to extend cooperation to the government by following the dos and don'ts issued by the Collectors and readily leaving their places if sought. Strong gales This would minimise human loss. In particular, he asked fishermen to suspend fishing activity and desist from going to the sea which would be “very rough with high tides and strong gales”. Meanwhile, the government has issued a list of mandals prone to inundation and strong winds as: NELLORE: Kavali, Bogolu, Aluru, Vidavaluru, Indukurpet, Thotapalli, Gudur, Muthkur, Chilakur, Kota, Vakadu, Sullurpet, Tada; PRAKASAM: Chirala, Vetapalem, China Ganjam, Naguluppalapadu, Upalapadu, Ongole, Kothapatnam, Tangutur, Singarayakonda, Ulavapadu, Gudlur; GUNTUR: Bapatla, Karlapalem, Pitttalavanipalem, Nizampatnam, Repalle and KRISHNA: Bantumilli, Kruttivennu, Pedana, Machilipatnam, Koduru and Nagayalanka.
