Punjab restricts Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Punjab reduced Tamil Nadu to 119 for five on the first day of an under-22 cricket match in the C.K. Nayudu Trophy tournament.

The first day's play between Andhra and Jammu and Kashmir at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium at Vijayawada was washed out due to heavy rains.

Bad weather also forced abandonment of play on the first day of the four-day match between Hyderabad and Himachal Pradesh at the Gymkhana Grounds in Hyderabad.

The scores: At Chennai: Tamil Nadu 119 for five in 69 overs (M. Kaushik Gandhi 39) vs. Punjab.

At Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala 240 for three in 66 overs (Sachin Mohan 115, N.K. Arjun 49, Jineesh Mohanan 35) vs. Goa .
