MP seeks Union Civil Aviation Minister's intervention

Special Correspondent

Kozhikode: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel should ‘wake up and do something' to mitigate the hardships faced by air passengers from the State, M.K. Raghavan, MP, said in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

Raising the problems caused by the cancellation of Air India flights in the House, Mr. Raghavan said the government had been pumping huge amounts of money into Air India.

But it had not been able to mitigate the hardships of passengers, he said.

According to a communication reaching The Hindu, Mr. Raghavan said, private airlines had been successful in operations but Air India, with its vast expertise and resources, was struggling to survive. The price structure for flights to cities in the Gulf was exorbitant.
