Painting expo proceeds given to I.P.D. Orthopaedic Centre

Art with heart:Senior Managing Director of Kasturi & Sons Limited
CHENNAI: I.P.D. Orthopaedic Centre, a unit of Andhra Mahila Sabha, was on Tuesday given the proceeds of a painting exhibition organised by The Hindu here on March 31.
A sum of Rs.1 lakh was handed over by N. Murali, Senior Managing Director, Kasturi & Sons Limited to D. Raja, chairman of the centre. The money will be spent towards the residential care, treatment and education of the 175 mentally challenged and spastic children at the centre. The painting exhibition ‘Young Picassos – Art with a Heart' had on display the works of students at The Hindu Young World Painting Competition held in November last year. The six-day exhibition was inaugurated by actor Sivakumar. More than 1,000 people visited it and Rs.1 lakh was raised through the sale of paintings.
