South, East record big wins
BANGALORE: Host South Zone blanked Central Zone 4-0 in the opening match of the 16th DGQA inter-zonal football championships at the CQAL ground here on Tuesday. Enian scored three goals while Krishna got the other goal for the winner.
Central however returned late in the day to trounce West 6-0 as Sathya Pradhan (3), Apil Singh (2) and Bhopal Bhai scored the goals.
In the day's third match, East, thanks to a Ranjan Roy hat-trick downed a determined North Zone 4-1. Subir Chakraborthy gave East the lead in the fifth minute which was neutralised in the ninth minute by Arun Kumar Mishra for North. However Ranjan Roy's three in a row proved too much for North.
