Seminar on productivity held

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Minister for Fisheries and Registration S. Sarma has said that the increase in productivity should increase employment opportunities, especially considering the present economic scenario.

The Minister was inaugurating a one-day seminar on modern trends in productivity improvement here on Tuesday, organised by the Kerala State Productivity Council. The seminar was organised as part of the Golden Jubilee year celebrations of the Productivity Council

He also said that the country's manpower and productivity were interrelated and that increase in productivity without increase in employment would not be the desirable future.

The Minister pointed out that industrial relations in the State were entirely different from the time of forming the Kerala State Productivity Council under the leadership of the late M. K. K. Nair 50 years ago.

Vice-Chancellor of Kerala Agricultural University K. R. Vishwambharan delivered the keynote address at the inauguration of the seminar. Chairman of the Productivity Council S. Jayathilakan presided.
