ETV, SVBC, DD sweep Nandi awards

HYDERABAD: ETV, SV Bhakti Channel (SVBC) and Doordarshan (DD) walked away with honours at the Nandi TV Awards for 2009 announced on Wednesday.

Popular TV soap ‘Mogali Rekulu' aired on Gemini bagged the Golden Nandi for Best Daily Serial and ‘Abhishekam' (ETV) won the Silver. The Golden Nandi for Best Mega Serial went to SVBC's “Sri Sri Sri Pothuluri Veera Brahmendra Swamy Charitra” and the Silver Nandi to ‘Srimathi Sri Subramanyam' of ETV.

Best actor

Sagar (‘Mogali Rekulu') bagged the Achyuth Award for Best Leading Actor and Waheeda the Best Leading Actress award (‘Vipranarayana'). Gundu Hanumanthau Rao won the Best Comedian award for his role in ‘Srimathi Sri Subramanyam'.

Announcing the awards Vaddepally Krishna, chairman of AP State Nandi TV Film Awards Committee and Information and Public Relations Commissioner C. Parthasarathy said 215 entries were received in nine categories which were scrutinised by a 16-member jury. The awards are likely to be presented on December 11.

‘Vipranarayana' by SVBC was adjudged the Best Telefilm while ‘Drushti' bagged the Silver Nandi. ETV's “Wow” won the Golden Nandi for best TV feature and ‘Idee Asalu Katha' (NTV) Silver Nandi. The awards in other categories are: Best TV Children's film – ‘Ashadeepam' (DD); Best TV Documentary Award ‘Cheryal Kalakruthulu' (DD), Best TV Socially Relevant Film –‘Daily Mirror' (TV9); Best TV Educational Film –‘Adbhutha Chirudanyalu' (DD); Best TV News Reader – Male – P. Kiran Kumar (HMTV) and Female – G. Rani Rudrama (Raj News). Individual awards are: Best Director – Manjula Naidu, Best Supporting Actor- Hari, Best Supporting Actress – Roopa Devi, Best Villian – Ravi Verma, Best Child Actor – Master Vijay, Best Child Actress – V. Yajuvendra.

Best Screenplay – Raghu Kapuganti and M. Seshu Kumar, Best Story Writer – D.Kameswari, Best Dialogue Writer – Gonvida Rajulu Nageswaar Rao, Best Lyric Writer – Dr. Mangalagiri Poornachand, Best Cinematographer – P. Venkata Ramana, Best Music Director – Radha-Gopim, Best Male Playback Singer – Mano, Best Female Playback Singer – P.R.Kausalyam.

Best Editor – K. Narasimha Reddy, Best Art Director – Addala Peddi Raju, Best Male Anchor – Siva Reddy, Best Female Anchor – Suma, Best Male Dubbing Artiste – Y.V. Venkateswara Rao, Best Female Dubbing Artiste – Lenina Chowdary, Best Audiographer – Sunkara Sateesh,Best Costume Designer – V.Tirumaleswara Rao, Best Make-up Artiste – Devendra Kumar and Best Graphics – Ray Animations.
