7-year-old boy kidnapped; Rs. 50 lakh ransom sought

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Unidentified persons abducted a seven-year-old boy, Devabrata Sahu, while he was returning home from school at Subhashnagar in Jeedimetla on Wednesday and sought Rs. 50 lakh ransom for his release.

A first standard student, the boy came to the grocery store of his father, Srikanth, from school around 4.30 p.m. Some time later, he started for his house located close by on foot.

His parents got worried and started searching the area as the boy didn't return home even two hours later.

Meanwhile, a person speaking Hindi rang up the boy's father on his mobile phone and demanded Rs. 50 lakh to set him free. “It looks like the abductors have some personal enmity with Srikanth,” said Balanagar ACP S. Damoder.
