Now, corrections in ration cards at eSeva

Staff Reporter

RAJAHMUNDRY: Ration card-holders can now effect any change or correction in the card at eSeva centres. According to Administrative Officer for East Godavari district N.V.S. Suraparaju, a sum of Rs. 43 and Rs. 28 will be collected for each correction from pink and white cards respectively. The application form can be obtained from eSeva centres free of cost.

Along with the application form, a photo copy of the ration card and a document that stands as proof for the change have to be submitted. For instance, change in residence should be supported by proof of the new mailing address.

Revenue staff would then visit the residence of the card-holder for verification. A new card would then be issued at the eSeva centre by charging Rs. 22 additionally.

“The new service obviates the need to make rounds to the MRO or panchayat offices to effect any change in the ration cards,” Mr. Suraparaju says.

Presently, people are approaching eSeva centres for remitting BSNL bills, municipal taxes, commercial taxes, RTA payments and even for new gas connection. These apart, e-Seva centres have also tied up with Airtel, Tata-Idea, Vodaphone and Western Union Money Transfer under B to C services.
