Tension at Puranapul bridge
HYDERABAD: Mild tension prevailed at Puranapul bridge in old city late on Friday night after some youngsters stopped a DCM van ferrying cows, alleging that the animals were being taken to the slaughter house. Even as they complained to a police team passing by after intercepting the van, the latter's driver sped away. “They alleged that the police let the van off and beat up one of them,” Charminar ACP Rammohan Rao, said. TDP corporator Raja Singh also arrived at the spot and picked up an argument with the police. Many vehicles got stuck at the Puranapul bridge for the reason. Local Bajrang Dal and VHP workers also gathered raising slogans against slaughtering of cows.
