Madikeri
Madikeri: Bahujana Karmikara Sangha in Kodagu district on Saturday urged Chief Minster B.S. Yeddyurappa to grant title deeds to their homes and provide sites to the poor people instead of distributing saris to the beneficiaries of Bhagyalakshmi scheme. Their response came in the wake of Mr. Yeddyurappa's proposed visit to Madikeri on November 15. Sangha district unit president H.S. Muthappa told presspersons that Mr. Yeddyurappa should think of providing good schools and colleges, good roads and compensation for crop loss. H.K. Monnappa, district unit secretary of the sangha, urged Chief Minister to take steps to control the rising prices of essentials and make way for better health care facilities to the poor. Providing saris would not help poor people tide over their problems, Mr. Monnappa said. Sangha district unit vice-president P. Padmavati said the Government should provide at least 30 kg rice to the poor people and enough kerosene at the ration depots.
