NEW DELHI: Government Model High School, Sector-36, Chandigarh, edged past Sukantanagar Vidyaniketan, Kolkata, via tie-breaker in a pre-quarterfinal match of the under-14 Subroto Cup football tournament here on Sunday. Jayanto Mandel of Kolkata and Samuel of Chandigarh netted a goal each to leave the two sides locked at 1-1 after the regulation time. In the tie-breaker, the Chandigarh team won 5-4. Lalramzuava, Simran Singh, Nisu Kumar, Samuel and Zothanmmawia were successful for the winner. Jayanto Mandel, Sudip Adak, Saif Hussain and Mutassir Siddique found the target for the losing side. In another match, NCC Directorate (West Bengal and Sikkim) banked on Kaushik Roy's double strike to beat SAI, Guwahati, 2-0. David Johnson Horo and Jaibir Oraon scored a brace each as St. Patrick's High School, Gumla (Jharkhand), outclassed CRPF Public School, Delhi, 6-1. Sudhir Oraon and Asif Ali completed the tally for the Jharkhand team. Mukesh was the lone scorer for the Delhi school. Mangal Kachhap, N. Japis Singh, Gulshan Kumar, Rajiv Dey, H. Naoba Meitei and Binod Subba scored a goal apiece in Army Boys Sports Company's 6-0 win over Maharashtra High School and Junior College, Kolhapur. — Principal Correspondent
