Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa distributing saris and bonds to beneficiaries at Gundlupet on Monday. Chamarajanagar: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said that he had not just come to Gundlupet to distribute saris to mothers of girl children covered under the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme, but to urge them to provide education to their wards till at least SSLC level. Speaking after distributing bonds and saris to 19,157 beneficiaries under the scheme at Devaraje Urs stadium at Gundlupet on Monday, the Chief Minister appealed to the mothers of the girl children not to send them to work till they turned 18 years. He asked them not to leave their villages till the mothers of the girl children realised their dreams by availing themselves of the benefits of the Bhagyalakshmi scheme. He said the distribution of bonds and saris and the free health check-up for the beneficiaries would be conducted every year, despite protests from the Opposition. Mr. Yeddyurappa has said the Bhagyalakshmi scheme would help the poor to become economically self-sufficient by imparting education till SSLC level. He said the Bhagyalakshmi programme would help till the girl reached 18 years. He said the decision would be taken within a week by the Cabinet to provide loan facilities to members of Sthree Shakti and other women SHGs. He said the farmers would get a crop loan at the interest rate of 1 per cent through cooperative societies in coming days. He said the steps would be taken to provide pension to anganwadi workers, subject to financial limitations. He said that a decision to withdraw cases booked against farmers from Chamarajanagar KRRS unit would be taken at the Cabinet meeting on November18. He said that steps would be taken to approve the Rs. 100-crore project to supply drinking water from Kabini to 52 villages. He said that steps had been taken to provide drinking water to M.M. Hills with the release of Rs. 24 crore. He said the Government would take steps to generate power in coming three years, which would be sufficient for next 50 years.
