Cooperative Week observed

KOTTAYAM: The district-level Cooperative Week observance was held here on Monday.

Inaugurating the function, V.N. Vasavan, MLA, pointed out that cooperative societies have played a huge role in development of the State. “Cooperative retail outlets like Supplyco and Consumerfed have prevented the common man from suffering the burden of price rise.” “Moreover, the active participation of cooperative banks has provided impetus to the implementation of the EMS Housing Scheme in the State,” he said.

Mr. Vasavan also said that the proposal for setting up a cooperative university in the State was being seriously considered by the Cooperation Department.
