Hyderabad not to take Tripura lightly

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Tripura will be keen to open its account against Hyderabad in its Ranji Trophy Plate division Group A cricket match at the Gymkhana Grounds from Wednesday.

Coach Sandip Dahad was quite candid about his squad's prospects. “Having lost two matches on the trot and both in just three days, we hope to stretch this one at least to the fourth. While not aiming too high, we hope to play decent cricket and complete the game gracefully.”

“Hyderabad should be more confident and going by the pitch's preparation, it's very clear the home side is aiming at an outright win. I am very happy with the result-oriented pitches that the BCCI has been urging, for it will only produce quality cricketers.

“The strip here exemplifies this new trend, covered with grass to help the seamers, while over the seven feet in front of the popping crease its shorn of green cover, to give the spinners also an even chance,” said the Tripura coach.

His Hyderabad counterpart Abdul Azeem says his boys are very positive and keen on an outright win. Not willing to underrate the opposition, he said: “We have to play well to beat them and it won't be easy. For the long term, we will take it game by game.”

P.S.S. Bharath and Paramvir Singh have replaced Vishal Sharma and Parth Jhala in the Hyderabad squad.
