CBI registers Preliminary Enquiry in Adarsh case

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a Preliminary Enquiry (PE) on a complaint by the Defence Ministry on the Adarsh housing scam in Mumbai.

During the enquiry, all issues raised by the Ministry will be looked into, the CBI said. If prima facie evidence of criminality is found, a regular case will be registered.

Legal action

Among other things, the Ministry has requested the CBI to look into issues concerning no-objection certificate, relinquishment of the land in possession of the Army and the extent to which commitments for welfare of defence personnel were complied with.

The investigating agency will also look into other connected issues and allegations and take appropriate legal action.
