CHENNAI: Three medical practitioners have come together and launched a website that would serve as a platform for patients, doctors and a variety of service providers, including pharmacies, nursing homes, clinics and care givers for geriatric patients. “The idea is to develop it into a medical directory for the residents of Chennai and its suburbs to find general practitioners, specialists, diagnostic centres, laboratories and scan centres in and around their area,” said diabetologist V.Raghunathan, one of the persons behind the website. Any doctor can register online and provide details of his or her clinic and practice. The website – www.chennai-doctors.com – is the brainchild of London-based orthopaedist and alumnus of Government Kilpauk Medical College, Manghattil Rajesh, who aims to develop the website into a network for services. The website was launched a little over a month ago and will provide “sub-products like elderly care and health education,” says paediatric surgeon C. Sankkarabarathi, part of the founding team. The website provides a forum for interaction between doctors and patients, who are invited to comment on medical matters.
