IndiGo eyes South Indian skies

Coimbatore: IndiGo that added its 31 {+s} {+t} A 320 Aircraft to its fleet on Friday is all set to expand its wings in the South Indian skies and the same will begin with the launch of Coimbatore – New Delhi – Coimbatore direct and via Chennai flight services with effect from November 30.

Milestone

Talking to reporters, Alphonso Dass – Director of Airport Operations and Customer Services of IndiGo said that the airlines had planned for a fleet of 100 aircrafts.

On November 19, it had achieved the milestone of inducting its 31 {+s} {+t} flight and by end of 2011 the airlines has plans to increase its fleet strength to 48 and was confident of achieving the 100 aircraft mark by 2015.

Delivery of aircraft had been firm and the fleet strength went up by three more this year while two more aircraft would join the fleet next month.

At present, IndiGo was operating 207 services a day connecting 23 destinations across the country and on time, hassle free and affordable fares are the parameters accelerating the growth of IndiGo, he said. IndiGo's technical dispatch reliability is 99.91 per cent making it the airline with the least number of cancellations in India. With its fleet of 31 new Airbus A 320 aircraft, the airlines is operating services to destinations such as Agartala, Ahemadabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, New Delhi, Goa, Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkatta, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Sri Nagar and Vadodara.

Coimbatore will become the 24 {+t} {+h} destination.

The airlines had considerably expanded its services in the South Indian market in the recent times by augmenting its capacity by ten more services from Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

Direct service

It also has plans to operate a direct service to Mumbai from Coimbatore very soon. On completion of the technical stipulation of five years domestic operations, IndiGo was also keen to get into the International sector after August 2011, marking the completion of fifth year ever since the entry into Aviation sector. When asked about plans for services to other destinations in the South, Mr.Dass said that the next launch was likely to be Thiruvananthapuram.

Flight schedule

The schedules of services from Coimbatore to New Delhi are as follows: Flight 6E 286 will department Coimbatore on all days (except Thursdays) at 4.50 p.m. and reach Chennai at 5.35 p.m. and the fare would be Rs. 1,863 (all inclusive one-way fare valid for booking made 14 days before travel date), Flight 6E 286 will depart Coimbatore at 5.40 p.m. and reach Chennai at 6.25 p.m. on Thursdays and the fare will remain the same. Flight 6E 285 from Coimbatore to New Delhi will depart daily at 11.20 a.m. and reach New Delhi at 2.20 p.m. and the fare would be Rs.3,324.

Flight 6E 286 from Coimbatore will depart (except on Thursdays) at 4.50 a.m. and reach New Delhi at 8.45 a.m. (via Chennai), Flight 6 E 286 will depart Coimbatore at 5.40 p.m. on Thursdays and reach New Delhi via Chennai at 9.35 p.m.

The fare would be Rs 3,324. Flight 6 E 285 from Chennai would depart daily at 10.00 a.m. and reach Coimbatore at 10.50 a.m.

Flight 6 E from New Delhi would depart daily at 6.45 a.m. and reach Coimbatore via Chennai at 10.50 a.m. Flight 6 E 286 from New Delhi would depart at 1.20 p.m. (except Thursdays) and reach Coimbatore at 4.20 p.m. Flight 6 E 286 will depart New Delhi at 2.10 p.m. on Thursdays and reach Coimbatore at 5.10 p.m.

The fares for these flights would be Rs. 3,574.
