‘Stop sale of alcohol on government premises'

Special Correspondent

PANAJI: Bailancho Saad, a women's collective, on Saturday wrote to Goa Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivatsava, demanding that sale and promotion of alcohol on government premises during International Film Festival of India 2010 be stopped.

“We are given to understand that for IFFI 2010, alcohol will be sold, consumed and advertised at INOX and Children's Garden, Campal Panaji, which are government premises,” Sabina Martins of Bailancho Saad said in the letter, and reminded the Chief Secretary that he had assured a delegation of women's groups in January that sale, consumption and advertisement of alcohol would not be permitted at INOX (premises where IFFI is held), as these activities were against the Directive Principles of the Constitution.
