MYSORE: The 57th State-level All-India Cooperation Week and Cooperators' Day was celebrated here on Saturday. This year's theme for the celebrations was ‘Contribution of cooperators towards food security'. Minister for Cooperation Laxman Savadi inaugurated the event; cooperators from various parts of the State took part. President of the Mysore Cooperative Union H.V. Rajeev unfurled the flag. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Savadi said the Government was planning to implement a new scheme giving financial security to farmers who have taken loans. A new microfinance scheme would also be implemented soon, offering soft loans to small traders and road-side vendors. Chairperson of the Karnataka State Cooperative Federation and Karnataka Housing Board G.T. Deve Gowda, Minister in charge of Mysore district S.A. Ramdas and Mysore MP A.H. Vishwanath were present. Honoured Later, Mr. Savadi felicitated Rajyotsava awardees from the Mysore region, while Mr. Ramdas honoured the cooperators who won the ‘Sahakari Ratna' awards. An exhibition by various cooperators was also organised on the Kalamandir premises.
